Our Story

30 years performing around the world

From the Ibermúsica season to Southeast Asia and the United States

From the Ibermúsica season to Southeast Asia and the United States

Although we are proud of all our concerts, we think the highlights of our history are the tours of Southeast Asia, the tour of the United States, participation in the Festival of the Dominican Republic, the tour of Japan, the many Cadaqués Festivals, the thousand and one nights in the gardens of Peralada, the special relationship with the Auditorium of Zaragoza, and the close ties with the Ibermúsica Season, where we are the resident orchestra.

From Gennady Rozhdestvensky to Gianandrea Noseda

Since the orchestra was founded in 1988 under the baton of Edmon Colomer, we have worked with many leading conductors, among whom special mention could be made of the legendary Sir Neville Marriner and Gennady Rozhdestvensky, and also Philippe Entremont, Christian Zacharias, Vasily Petrenko, Pablo González, Alberto Zedda, Michal Nesterowicz, Gianandrea Noseda (our principal conductor since 1997) and Jaime Martín (our chief conductor since 2011).

An orchestra of soloists and soloist friends

We have shared the stage with many outstanding soloists, including Alicia de Larrocha, Victoria de los Ángeles, Teresa Berganza, Paco de Lucía, Ainhoa Arteta, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Montserrat Caballé, Tete Montoliu, Pepe Romero, Christian Lindberg, Ginesa Ortega, Barbara Hendricks, Michel Camilo, Jean Bernard Pommier, Augustin Hadelich, Juan Diego Flórez, Daniil Trifonov, Milos Karadaglic, Martin Stadtfeld, Gabriela Montero, Jonas Kaufmann and Daniel Hope.

Moreover, thanks to the exceptional talent of the members of the orchestra, we have been able to give dozens of concerts where they have appeared as soloists: Ludwig Müller, Santiago Juan, David Tomás, Luís González, Joan Enric Lluna and Jaime Martín himself are some examples.

“Working with the Cadaqués Orchestra has always made me very happy… They have a touch of uncontrolled danger, uncontrolled fire, very Latin, which is precisely what I like about them.”

Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition

Among all our projects the one that is closest to our hearts is the Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition. Since 1992, when the first one took place, we have already held eleven competitions. The twelfth will be held in December 2017.
